Good afternoon, it‘s a pleasure to be here today to take part in this exciting announcement.

I am particularly happy to be here with Viking Air Limited, a company that demonstrates Western competitiveness, values and entrepreneurship, as shown here today.

I had the opportunity to visit Viking’s impressive aircraft display yesterday, which reaffirmed Western Canada’s strength in the aerospace and defence industry.

A key priority for my Department and our Government is advocacy on behalf of western Canadian Industry to secure significant, value-added industrial opportunities.

Western Canada’s aerospace industry employs approximately 15,000 people, generates $4 billion in annual revenues, and takes part in a wide range of both civil and defence aerospace activities.

The success of companies, like Viking, is a testament to Western Canada’s ability to compete in this competitive global environment.

Today’s announcement is evidence that together we are working to build a stronger West and a stronger Canada.

Congratulations Viking!
